CSEA Intern - Posted 9/24/21- Remote Part-Time 

California Society of Environmental Analysts, CSEA, is seeking to fill its marketing/social media intern position to assist our growing society.

Interns work as volunteers for up to 20 hours a week while interacting with a large group of professionals wishing to communicate with others in their field. Environmental analysts are unsung heroes in the public health and environmental health worlds and had no society to elevate their work into the public/community space until CSEA was formed in 2019. The internship is intended for people planning careers in environmental science and wanting to connect to role models and organizations in the environmental analyst profession, or who are interested in learning more about communications and marketing in a nonprofit setting.

Senior Scientist (QA Administrator) - APPLICATION FILING DEADLINE: Friday, July 1, 2022 by 5:00 P.M.

Location: Orange County Sanitation District, CA

OC San is currently looking to fill the role of a Senior Scientist (QA Administrator) in the Quality Assurance Group.

Under general supervision or direction, the Senior Scientist will serve as a lead in the Quality Assurance Group to oversee all elements of the TNI/NELAP (The NELAC Institute/National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program), California ELAP (Environmental laboratory Accreditation Program), and South Coast AQMD (Air Quality Monitoring District) accreditation programs for the Laboratory. The Senior Scientist will have a strong understanding of the laboratory methods and QA/QC elements related to chemical, microbiological, radiological, and toxicological testing in various matrices including water, wastewater, ambient water, solids, air, and sediment. The Senior Scientist will report directly to the Environmental Laboratory and Ocean Monitoring Manager.

The Senior Scientist will be responsible for:

  • Writing and reviewing laboratory quality manual and administrative standard operating procedures and validating analytical standard operating procedures.

  • Providing quality control review of applicable compliance reports.

  • Ensuring that analytical results are communicated appropriately.

  • Providing leadership and guidance to others,

  • Conducting annual laboratory internal audits and organizing/coordinating external lab audits.

  • Coordinating PE/PT studies for the laboratory.

  • Organizing, managing, and reviewing the annual Quality Management System.

  • Prepare and make presentations to management, staff, the Board of Directors, regulators, other public agencies, the public, and professional groups.

  • Working with IT to improve the LIMS system.

  • Serving as subject matter expert on QA related items.

  • Working closely with the supervisory team.

  • Coordinating sampling/analysis with other Divisions,

  • Performing any other tasks requested by supervision/management.

Supervising Chemist - Inorganic Section for OCWD - APPLICATION FILING DEADLINE: 7/14/2022 4:00 PM Pacific

Location: Fountain Valley, CA

The Orange County Water District is accepting applications for a Supervising Chemist within the Inorganic section. The Supervising Chemist is the fourth level in a four-level chemist series and reports to the Laboratory Director. Under supervision from the Laboratory Director, this Supervising Chemist is one of two within the Inorganic section responsible for 1) supervising Principal Chemists, Senior Chemists, Chemists, Senior Lab Technicians, Lab Technicians and Student Interns within the Inorganic Section and 2) performing trace level inorganic analyses on water, wastewater, or related samples using EPA or Standard Methods with required quality control and data review.
